Miss Keepers of the Crown

Laura Lynn Watters 1983Laura Lynn Watters - Miss Kansas 1983

Since 1984 Laura has traveled to over 30 countries – both on business and personally. She worked for Hallmark Cards as a sales associate from 1984 – 1989. There she won rookie of the year and outstanding sales associate.

Laura then pursued Johnson & Johnson and worked for them for over 12 years. The selling & international marketing of surgical supplies were a great fit for her as most of her family is in the medical field. Some of her honors include: rookie of the year, five gold key awards (outstanding employee) and the Champion Award (the only award given annually to one employee at the international headquarters for over 1,200 employees). When J & J moved to her company to New Jersey in 2000 Laura decided to stay put in Texas (she had already lived in six states).

In 2000 she obtained her MBA at Southern Methodist University and got married to a native Texan – Dan Barnett.

Laura then worked for PRIMEDIA Healthcare as Director of Marketing – creating the strategy and direction for a healthcare education company.

Laura & Dan were blessed with a baby girl 7/3/2004. Her name is Amelia Vanessa Barnett but goes by the Italian name Mia (as Dan and Laura LOVE the country of Italy – where they got engaged).

Laura is currently a full-time mom but stays active with consulting to her old companies as well as mentoring women every chance she gets. She also helps her husband who is a national real estate investor (after retiring from Mobil Oil after 22 years) – you really need to meet Dan as he keeps her on her toes!
